Purpose
The Training Intern or Practicum Student will work alongside Empower Missouri’s Advocacy
Director to support statewide education and outreach efforts. Our work focuses on building
awareness, strengthening advocacy skills, and connecting communities to the policy issues that
impact them.
In this role, you’ll help identify and research speaking opportunities, support training logistics,
build outreach lists, and contribute to the development of materials. There may also be
opportunities to help facilitate or deliver brief presentations. This is a great opportunity for
someone interested in public education, advocacy, and community engagement.
What You’ll Do
● Research and build contact lists for training participants, partners, and outreach efforts
● Identify and track potential speaking opportunities, conferences, and community events
across Missouri
● Support scheduling, communications, and logistics for trainings and presentations
● Assist with developing and sharing training and outreach materials
● Provide general administrative and research support to the Advocacy Director
Tasks may be tailored to align with the intern’s interests and strengths.

Students studying education, communications, public policy, social work, nonprofit
management, or a related field—especially those in their third or fourth year—may find this role
a strong fit.
Time Commitment
● 15 hours per week (flexible schedule).
● Availability for some meetings between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
● This is a remote position open to candidates located in Missouri, with occasional travel to
support in-person events or advocacy efforts in Mid-Missouri and the state capitol.
We are happy to work with students to make sure this fits practicum or field placement
requirements.
Compensation
● $15.00/hour
