Give MO Day

Missouri is worth showing up for.

Every October, Missouri has its own day of celebration. Missouri Day was created more than a century ago to honor the people, places, and stories that make our state unique. Yet for many Missourians, the day passes by without much notice. We think it deserves more.

That’s why, as Empower Missouri celebrates 125 years of advocacy and community-building, we’re launching Give MO Day.

Held each year on Missouri Day, Give MO Day invites people across the state to celebrate what they love about their communities and invest in the future they want to build together. Whether it’s a favorite local tradition, a place that feels like home, or a vision for a stronger Missouri, every story shared and every gift made helps build a better future for our state.

Show Us Your Missouri

Show Us What Missouri Means to You

At the heart of Give MO Day is a simple question:

What makes Missouri home?

Maybe it’s a family tradition. A favorite local restaurant. A county fair. A neighborhood park. A Friday night football game. A view you’ve seen a hundred times and never stopped appreciating.

This Missouri Day, we invite you to take the Show Us Your Missouri Challenge in three simple steps:

  1. Share a photo or story that captures something you love about your Missouri community.

  2. Make a gift to support Empower Missouri’s work.

  3. Invite 10 friends to join the challenge.

Together, we’ll create a statewide snapshot of the people, places, and traditions that make Missouri worth showing up for.

What Do Missouri’s Young People Want for the Future?

Missouri Day was created to help young people learn about and celebrate their state. More than a century later, Empower Missouri is proud to continue that tradition through the Show Us Your Missouri Postcard Project.

Students and youth groups are invited to create postcards that share both what they love about Missouri and what they hope to see in its future.

Participants will:

  • Reflect on what makes Missouri special

  • Draw something they love about Missouri

  • Share an idea for how Missouri can become even stronger

Families, educators, and youth leaders are encouraged to submit copies of completed postcards to Empower Missouri to be featured as part of our Give MO Day celebration.

We know that the future of Missouri will be shaped by the next generation. Their ideas, experiences, and hopes for our state deserve to be part of the conversation.
