Join the Advocacy Alliance

Empower Missouri has brought back our organizational membership program, now the Advocacy Alliance, and we would love for you to consider joining us. Our core services have always been, and will always be, free to those who want to partner with us. But if you have the ability and desire as an organization to make a financial contribution to our work, we have some fun bonus content and a growing list of training offerings to provide! If you are interested but not quite ready to sign up, feel free to contact Amber Foster-Hobart at [email protected] with any questions.

Member Benefits

In addition to the base level of services we provide to all of our nonprofit partners for free, Member Organizations will receive:

Promotional Opportunities

  • Membership Decals (both digital and physical decals)
  • Opportunity to co-host our Week of Action
  • Opportunity to partner and co-host a session of the Advocates Book Club
  • Listing on the Advocacy Alliance webpage and in our annual Impact Report
  • A membership spotlight in our Advocacy in Action or Updates from the Capitol email newsletters

Training Opportunities

  • One of our three core trainings (Advocacy 101, Messaging 101, Ethics in Advocacy) facilitated just for your staff, board, and/or community stakeholders via Zoom.

    • Advocacy 101: Advocacy 101 will teach advocates, impacted people, and not for profit staff how to share their experience with elected officials and influence policy change.
    • Messaging 101: An introduction to messaging strategy and tools that can help individuals and organizations share consistent information about their work. This training will help to teach you how to find messages that work and plan to deliver those to the right audiences at the right time.
    • Ethics in Advocacy: Geared towards social workers, this training is relevant for all staff and volunteers that wish to engage people with lived experience into their advocacy plans. Participants will explore the NASW Code of Ethics as it relates to energizing people with lived experiences to share their story and win policy change for their neighbors.

  • A 25% discount on additional training sessions for your team

    • Messaging 201: Direct assistance from Empower Missouri staff to plan a complete messaging strategy for a campaign or organization. Staff will meet with stakeholders and staff to learn about your issues, suggest messages to test, and help to plan full strategy including delivery methods and timelines.
    • Policy Agenda Setting: Empower Missouri staff will help you write and plan a legislative policy agenda that will directly impact your clients and help your organization live more fully into its mission. Staff will help you plan a strategy and conversations with stakeholders to identify priority issues, evidence based solutions, and make connections to legislative items in Missouri.

  • A 25% discount on tickets to Anti-Poverty Advocates Summit, held annually in November in mid-Missouri.
  • A 25% discount on participation in our Advocacy Partners program, when you are ready to build your own internal advocacy program.
