Empower Missouri Week of Action

Week of Action flyer. The Week of Action will be April 4-7, 2022.

This year’s Week of Action is a choose-your-adventure. We’ll have virtual content on April 4th, 6th, and 7th and we’ll be live and in person on Tuesday, April 5th from 10AM- 3PM to sharpen your advocacy skills– or build new ones!

During our in-person day, you will learn how a bill moves through the legislative process, when bills are most easily impacted by advocates and how you can participate in the process, and how to make the most of a day in the capitol. You’ll have the opportunity to observe floor debate or committee hearings, to find your lawmakers and connect with them, and to advocate on specific pieces of anti-poverty legislation, including providing improving nutrition access, increasing access to affordable housing, reforming our criminal justice system, and protecting the initiative petition process.

For our virtual series, join us at noon each day for a lunch hour of action. Each session will begin by teaching you one important aspect of successful legislative advocacy. These lessons work as a stand alone skill but are best applied together. Next, our knowledgeable and skilled organizers will teach you about one bill that will disproportionately impact people in poverty focused on one of our priority areas. Finally, they’ll show exactly how to join our network in virtual advocacy to end poverty in Missouri.
