Empower Missouri’s storied history and the progress we’ve made has only been possible through the hard work of dedicated volunteers, coalition members, and other partners. We are thrilled to be celebrating this milestone year, and one of the highlights is celebrating the people that have made 125 Years of People-Powered Policy Change possible. We’ll be highlighting Board members, partners and coalition members, and staff throughout the year, but we also want to hear who you want to celebrate! The 125th Anniversary Advocacy Awards is your chance to let us know who you want to recognize.
We’ve celebrated the work of our members and partners in many different ways over our history, as part of our Advocacy Awards Brunch, past regional celebrations, or at our annual conference. This year, we’re returning to our history and celebrating our awardees alongside our Anti-Poverty Advocates Summit. The awardees will be recognized on Thursday, October 1st, at our Anniversary Celebration in Columbia, Missouri. We’ll share more details about the celebration, and the Summit (October 1st and 2nd) soon, but in the meantime, we need your help to recognize those individuals, organizations, or coalitions who share our passion and stand alongside us in our work to end poverty in our state.
Awards will be given across several categories, and each award is open to anyone in the state of Missouri. More information about each category is below, and nominating only takes a few minutes; just submit this short form.
Sustaining Impact Awards
In alignment with our 125th Anniversary celebration, most of our awards this year are designed to recognize individuals, groups or organizations who have made a significant impact in their focus area over many years. These Sustaining Impact awards recognize the fact that while many policy or system changes take a long time to implement, they also can have an impact that lasts for decades or generations. As we celebrate our long history of people-powered policy change in Missouri, we hope that you’ll nominate other individuals and organizations who have made a long-term impact on our state.
Lifetime of Service to Empower Missouri
This award is designed to be a celebration of past or present board members, volunteers, partners, or donors who have diligently supported our work over the years.
Emerging Advocate
Unlike our other awards this year, we also want to recognize that we need new infusions of talent from emerging advocates in order to sustain our policy change ecosystem in Missouri. For this category, please nominate a newer advocate who you believe will be a future leader in fighting poverty in Missouri.
In Memoriam
While we celebrate our history and honor individuals and organizations still working with us to build a better Missouri, we also want to celebrate individuals who we have recently lost. We know this list could be long, so for this event, we are honoring advocates who have passed in the last 10 years. If you know of someone who should be included “In Memoriam” at the Anniversary Celebration, please share their information here. These individuals will be recognized separately from our Advocacy Awardees at the dinner.
