April Friday Forum – Poverty and Aging

More than 17 million Americans age 65+ live below 200% of the federal poverty level, leading to struggles with health costs, housing, adequate nutrition, access to transportation, and so much more. In Missouri, there are currently 1.1 million citizens over the age of 60, and older adults could outnumber minors for the first time by 2030. In this session we’ll be joined by speakers from two of our national partner organizations, Dr. Jan Mutchler, Director of the Gerontology Institute at UMass Boston, and Archie Roundtree Jr., Staff Attorney with Justice in Aging to discuss the impact this shift will have on resources available to support aging Missourians living in poverty.

Empower Missouri’s Friday Forums are our monthly online educational offerings for Missourians to build knowledge on poverty-related policy issues and skill in legislative and grassroots advocacy. Register for this session below, or visit our Friday Forums page for more information on other upcoming sessions and recordings of all of our prior sessions.
