The Missouri legislative session is heating up, and it is critical that our voices are heard in Jefferson City. Please join us April 3rd – April 6th for our 2023 Week of Action! On April 6th, spend your lunch hour with us to build your advocacy skills and learn about key anti-poverty policies in one of our priority areas, affordable housing. This session, we’ll be focusing on how to stay in touch with your lawmaker, and learning about the circuit breaker tax credit.
These programs provide state-funded tax credits to senior and disabled homeowners and renters. Specifically, SB 15 would adjust the homeowner and renter property tax credits (PTC) by inflation annually and would increase the maximum upper income limit allowed to claim the PTC. The credit is currently capped at $750 for renters and $1,100 for homeowners. While $750 will make an impact on seniors’ budgets, it does not make the impact in 2023 that it made in 2008, when that amount was last adjusted. Adjusting for inflation each year will ensure that the credit continues to benefit recipients closer to the level initially intended. Join us to learn more about the PTC and its impact for Missouri seniors.
