In her role as Manager of Public Policy, Sarah Ritter acts as the liaison between Operation Food Search and the Missouri state legislature. Sarah engages elected officials around issues relating to hunger and food insecurity. As a registered lobbyist, she works with legislators, legislative staff, and other governmental officials to promote public policy initiatives that reduce food access barriers. Sarah also coordinates grassroots advocacy activities on key legislative issues, as well as trains and mobilizes community food advocates.
Prior to joining Operation Food Search, Sarah was a Legislative Intern with Empower Missouri, where she assisted the St. Louis Chapter with their hunger and criminal justice task force initiatives. Sarah is a graduate of The George Warren Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, holding a Master’s Degree in Social Work.
Elizabeth Larsen is a Staff Attorney in the Public Benefits Program at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri. She graduated from Saint Louis University School of Law with a certificate in Health Law in May 2016 and has been licensed to practice law in Missouri since September 2016. Also in September 2016, Elizabeth began her career at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri as the Program Director of the Connecting Kids to Coverage grant program. She then helped create Legal Services’ Youth and Family Advocacy Program as its staff attorney before moving to her current role.
