Introducing our Community Justice Intern – Eric Reiter

Hello!

My name is Eric and I am extremely excited to be joining the Empower Missouri team as the Community Justice Intern. In this role, I will support the Criminal Justice Policy Manager in achieving goals set forth for the Community Justice Coalition, Clean Slate Initiative, and other policy priorities regarding community justice in Missouri.

I’m a current student in the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis, working toward my MSW with a concentration in social and economic development and policy. Prior to moving to St. Louis for graduate school, I was an organizer and nonprofit professional in my home state of Nebraska. My professional experience includes political campaigns, nonprofit direct services, grassroots community organizing, and legislative advocacy at the municipal, state, and federal levels.

I believe in a solutions-oriented approach that meets people where they are, amplifies historically excluded voices, and builds coalitions that achieve positive and sustainable change. I’m eager to get to work supporting the community justice work of Empower Missouri and learning from my new colleagues as we collectively move toward a more just and equitable Missouri.
