Position Title: Columbia Field Organizer
Position Type: Part-Time; Temporary
Reports to: Empower Missouri Transformative Conversations Program Lead
Position Summary: Empower Missouri is seeking passionate and dedicated Field Organizers to join our deep canvass & tenant organizing project in Columbia. Field Organizers will be responsible for engaging with community members, conducting transformative conversations, organizing bases of tenants and recruiting new members to tenant unions.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for holding transformative conversations and completing follow ups.
- Collect field data and feedback and submit report to field lead after each shift
- Responsible for building a base and managing action opportunities to plug bases into.
- Support the development of tenant led organizing and advocacy efforts.
- Work closely with the Field Lead and other team members to achieve project goals.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required, occasional travel as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Previous experience in community organizing or related field preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
- Passion for social justice and tenant rights.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance and reliable vehicle.
Schedule:
25 hours per week, including significant availability on weekends and/or evenings (peak canvassing times), from April 14 – October 15, 2025.
Compensation
$25 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement of $0.67/mile
