Welcome Our New Board President – Dr. Tiffany Patton

Greetings Empower Missouri Community,

It is with great humility and excitement for the journey that I introduce myself as the incoming Chair of the Board Directors. My name is Dr. Tiffany Patton and I have served on the Board this past year as your Vice Chair. I am a dedicated and committed educator in the St. Louis community with 17 years of experience ranging from roles as classroom teacher to instructional coach to principal. Today I work as a Professional Development Coordinator in the Riverview Gardens School District and Educational Consultant providing coaching and consulting services to leaders in districts across the country.

I am very passionate about the damaging impact poverty has on people; it’s impact on children’s educational outcomes in schools with high concentrations of poverty was a key topic in my doctoral research paper. It was a natural fit to align my work in the volunteer space with an organization that has been clearly standing against poverty for over 120 years.

I am excited to assist with the effort to write and actualize a new strategic plan that will lead to impactful and meaningful growth for our organization. I am especially honored to continue the vision of DEI training for our Board and organization set forth by our transitioning Board Chair, Marqueia Watson. I would like to thank Marqueia for her exceptional leadership during one of the most challenging points in recent years for Empower Missouri. We all owe her a tremendous amount of praise for her efforts and her ability to not only see the organization through it’s change in leadership but ensure we were placed on the right track to forge ahead effectively. Marqueia will be greatly missed and I will rely heavily on her expertise to assist me with being effective in this next phase.

We have an amazing staff and Board of Directors with minds that are just as strong as their hearts. I can always see how deeply we care about the mission of Empower Missouri, “to secure basic human needs and equal justice for every person in our state through coalition-building and advocacy”, through our interactions with each other. Thank you for this opportunity and I look forward to serving you in this capacity. If ever you need to contact me, please don’t hesitate to shoot me an email at [email protected].
