Born in Rural Arkansas and raised in Central and Southwest Missouri, Sara has lived in the Springfield area for most of her life. Sara has over 20 years in non-profit management, starting at the age of 18 as the co-founder of a humanitarian aid organization focused on international poverty relief efforts.
Sara currently provides freelance consulting services to small non-profit start ups. She joins Empower Missouri after serving 6 years in service to low-income residents in 10 counties of southwest Missouri. First in a direct services role addressing areas of improved self-sufficiency, and the last two years in an administrative role with a special emphasis on mental health. Sara understands that the impacts of poverty on every day life are far reaching and brings with her knowledge of the wide and varied approaches to addressing these impacts.
