Misha Smith lives in Kansas City, Missouri and after receiving their bachelor’s degree in Social Work, they worked as a case manager for almost a decade. However, as they saw that communities were impacted by decisions made for them, but not by them, they knew that their focus needed to shift to the policy level. Their grassroots level work in affordable housing and homeless prevention advocacy also impacted how Misha saw the work being done. As a result, they went on to complete their Master of Public Administration with a focus on non-profit and community services. Misha joins the Empower Missouri team as an Affordable Housing Policy Manager.
