Jennifer Shotwell is the Chief Executive Officer of the Area Agency on Aging, Region Ten in Southwest Missouri and is a tireless advocate for seniors, disabled persons, and their caregivers. With the mantra “help people, not just run programs,” she has developed projects to meet needs such as delivering several hundred tons of extra groceries to food-insecure homebound elderly in the rural areas of Southwest Missouri. She nurtures many collaborative partnerships to combat food insecurity, poverty, and housing and is passionate about helping vulnerable populations. She chairs the Poverty and Housing committee under One Joplin, is a coordinator of her region’s Silver Hair Legislature, holds the Secretary/Treasurer position on the Joplin Rotary board, is a City of Carl Junction Board of Adjustment member, and is regularly in contact with city, county, and state elected officials in the area. She sits on the Missouri Association of Area Agencies on Aging Board of Directors and participates on its Advocacy Committee. Jennifer’s educational background includes Business Administration, Accounting, Political Science, and Grant Writing.
