On Thursday, August 20th, Empower Missouri held a webinar to discuss the current wave of protests and police reforms. Empower Missouri was joined by Sara Baker from ACLU of Missouri, Sen. Brian Williams, who represents the 14th Senatorial District in St. Louis County, Betty Frizzell, the former Chief of the Winfield Police Department and Jae Shepherd from Action St. Louis. Our panelists talked about the different ways people could grow solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives, build interest in and knowledge about the potential of securing needed police reforms – locally and at the state and federal levels; and how talked about how to prepare social justice advocates to engage in action at key times.
