Teenagers have developing brains which often fail to understand the complex affects their actions may cause. This is even more true for teenagers who have grown up in poverty and feel the impact of violence in the communities, a lack of adequate nutrition, or unstable housing. Despite mountains of evidence that adolescents are not adults, Missouri continues to allow children as young as 12 years old to be tried as adults in our court systems. Come learn more about this policy and help us change it.
Empower Missouri’s Friday Forums are our monthly online educational offerings for Missourians to build knowledge on poverty-related policy issues and skill in legislative and grassroots advocacy. Register below to join us. A link to join the call will be sent to the email address provided prior to the event.
