PURPOSE

The Communications Intern will assist Empower Missouri’s Communications Manager with the development of marketing and communications campaigns to increase the organization’s visibility and engagement across the state. Interns will contribute to the creation of content for our email campaigns, website, social media, and print materials; assist with website maintenance; and support other communications tasks as assigned.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing skills in communications, marketing, social media strategy, and graphic design while contributing to social justice advocacy. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in and/or experience in writing, social media management, and/or graphic design.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in creating promotional materials for Empower Missouri events and training programs.
  • Support the design and content creation of email campaigns and e-newsletters.
  • Help develop print and digital materials related to community justice initiatives.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and updating of Empower Missouri’s website.
  • Assist in tracking and reporting on key communications metrics, including email and website analytics.
  • Participate in communications planning, research, and content development projects. Tasks may be tailored to align with the intern’s interests and strengths.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong interest and/or experience in strategic communications.
  • Students in their 3rd or 4th year of a program in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field will be a strong fit.
  • Commitment to social justice +  Empower Missouri’s mission and values.
  • Excellent written communication skills. 

TIME COMMITMENT

  • 15 hours per week (flexible schedule).
  • Availability for some meetings between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Ability to work remotely, with occasional travel to support in-person events or advocacy efforts in Mid-Missouri and the state capitol.

COMPENSATION

  • $13.50/hour
