Our work focuses on reducing mass incarceration, addressing racial disparities in the criminal legal system, and promoting approaches to public safety that strengthen communities rather than relying on punishment.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this role, you\u2019ll be part of advocacy campaigns, public education efforts, coalition-building, and policy research that help move meaningful change at both the state and local level. It\u2019s a strong fit for someone who wants hands-on experience in public policy, criminal legal system reform, and grassroots advocacy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What You\u2019ll Do<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Connect with community members and help grow the Community Justice Coalition<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write policy briefs on criminal legal system issues\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support policy research on other anti-poverty issues as needed\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Help prepare and submit testimony and attend hearings at the Missouri State Capitol\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Track legislation and monitor hearings in the Missouri House and Senate, sharing updates with partners\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take notes and help summarize key developments from Capitol activity<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create fact sheets and other materials on priority issues\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support coalition meetings, including note-taking and follow-up<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>What We\u2019re Looking For<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A basic understanding of the criminal legal system, especially in Missouri<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A commitment to criminal legal system reform + <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/empowermissouri.org\/es\/about-us\/mission\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Empower Missouri\u2019s mission and values<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strong communication skills, both written and verbal<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Time Commitment<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">15 hours per week (flexible schedule).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Availability for some meetings between 9:00 a.m. \u2013 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a remote position open to candidates located in Missouri, with occasional travel to support in-person events or advocacy efforts in Mid-Missouri and the state capitol.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are happy to work with students to make sure this fits practicum or field placement requirements.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Compensaci\u00f3n<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">$15.00\/hour<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Reports To<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gerente de Pol\u00edticas de Justicia Penal<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>HOW TO APPLY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please send your resume and a brief cover letter to <\/span><a href=\"mailto:jobs@empowermissouri.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">jobs@empowermissouri.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
