Prop\u00f3sito<\/em><\/strong>
The Affordable Housing Intern will work alongside Empower Missouri\u2019s team to support
advocacy, education, and organizing efforts aimed at expanding access to safe, affordable
housing across the state. Our work focuses on advancing policies that protect tenants, increase
housing stability, and address the systemic barriers that make housing unaffordable for many
Missourians.
In this role, you\u2019ll contribute to community outreach, policy research, coalition-building, and
public education efforts that support change at both the state and local level. This is a great
opportunity for someone interested in housing justice, public policy, and grassroots advocacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What You\u2019ll Do
<\/em><\/strong>\u25cf Help plan, promote, and support town halls, community forums, and educational events
related to housing and tenant rights
\u25cf Connect with tenants, community members, and housing advocates to support outreach
efforts
\u25cf Participate in tabling and outreach events to share information about Empower Missouri\u2019s
housing work
\u25cf Research opportunities to expand engagement with impacted communities
\u25cf Conduct research on affordable housing policies at the state and local level
\u25cf Write policy briefs, fact sheets, and other materials on key housing issues
\u25cf Help prepare and submit testimony and attend hearings or city council meetings as
needed
\u25cf Support coordination and logistics for the Affordable Housing Coalition
\u25cf Assist with partner communication and relationship-building
\u25cf Help track volunteers and support advocacy efforts
\u25cf Maintain organized records of outreach, events, and campaign progress<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What We\u2019re Looking For
<\/em><\/strong>\u25cf Basic understanding of housing issues and systems in Missouri.
\u25cf Commitment to housing justice + Empower Missouri\u2019s mission and values.
\u25cf Strong written and verbal communication skills
\u25cf Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
We strongly encourage people who are currently tenants or who have lived experiences with
unstable or unaffordable housing to apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time Commitment
<\/em><\/strong>\u25cf 15 hours per week (flexible schedule).
\u25cf Availability for some meetings between 9:00 a.m. \u2013 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
\u25cf Ability to work remotely, with occasional travel to support in-person events or advocacy
efforts in Mid-Missouri and the state capitol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COMPENSATION<\/em><\/strong>
\u25cf $15.00\/hour<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REPORTS TO<\/em><\/strong>
\u25cf Affordable Housing Policy Manager<\/p>\n\n\n\n
