{"id":14304,"date":"2026-02-03T12:45:30","date_gmt":"2026-02-03T18:45:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/empowermissouri.org\/?p=14304"},"modified":"2026-02-11T16:24:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T22:24:11","slug":"charles-ellwood-graduate-fellowship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/empowermissouri.org\/es\/charles-ellwood-graduate-fellowship\/","title":{"rendered":"The Charles Ellwood Graduate Fellowship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Charles Ellwood Graduate Fellowship program, named for one of Empower Missouri\u2019s founders and earliest Presidents, will offer 1-2 recent graduates a fully immersive, year-long, paid fellowship to gain valuable experience in policy research, community education and organizing, and advocacy communications.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Research &amp; Policy Support<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Conduct research on nonprofit organizations, legislative issues, and public policy topics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research and draft proposals for speaking opportunities in Missouri and nationwide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help prepare staff for speaking engagements, drafting background memos and materials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support legislative advocacy by conducting background research on legislators and policy issues.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fellows will have the opportunity to assist with one of more coalitions or working groups on topics such as the Missouri Housing Trust Fund, school meals expansion, or DOC oversight.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Advocacy &amp; Event Coordination<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support logistics for Empower Missouri events, including the Day of Action &amp; Anti-Poverty Summit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help plan and promote the college student portion of Day of Action.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist Policy Managers in organizing town halls across Missouri.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute to tenant organizing efforts in Columbia and\/or Southeast Missouri.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help organize statewide coalition meetings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Communications &amp; Analysis<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assist in developing content for Empower Missouri\u2019s 125th Anniversary Campaign<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analyze training survey responses, summarizing trends and recommendations for improvement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify and support updates to Empower Missouri\u2019s website to enhance user experience&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support advocacy communications (e.g., calls-to-action) initiatives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain and update EveryAction coalition lists, including engagement tiers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>CALIFICACIONES<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recent (within the last 12 months) graduate of an undergraduate or masters\u2019 program in public policy, communications, social work, nonprofit management, or a related field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong writing, research, and organizational skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interest in social justice, poverty reduction, and community advocacy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comfortable managing multiple priorities and working independently in a remote environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with data analysis, community engagement, or digital advocacy tools (e.g., EveryAction, Canva, or social media platforms) is a plus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Missouri resident<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>WHAT YOU&#8217;LL GAIN<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mentorship and training from experienced policy and advocacy professionals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Real-world experience in legislative advocacy, communications strategy, and coalition organizing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Networking opportunities with nonprofit leaders, advocates, and community partners statewide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A deeper understanding of Missouri\u2019s policy landscape and how advocacy drives systemic change.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This is a salaried position, paying $45,000\/year.
