Empower Missouri has long held this guiding principle about basic human needs:
All people in Missouri should have true access to quality healthcare, decent housing, adequate nutrition and appropriate education. Our state should fully fund, fully implement and/or fully supplement, as appropriate, state and federal programs for health and mental health services, housing and homelessness services, food assistance programs, and all levels of public education.
Where does Missouri stand now? What consequences have come from our lack of adequate funding for critical public services? Where are investments needed if we want to move toward a future with less income inequality and more shared prosperity?
Empower Missouri and a variety of organizations are co-sponsoring a series of “Invest in Missouri” forums with Missouri Budget Project, beginning in Kansas City on October 19 and in St. Louis on October 26. (Additional locations and dates are to be announced.) We encourage our members and allies to attend and to join this important conversation.
The events are free and open to the public, but advance registration is required. For details and online registration forms go to:
